Pacific Koi

I've finally completed the last of the quilts that I will be turning in for next week's quilt show.  This quilt is actually a group effort.  My friend Jill went to Hawaii a couple of years ago and brought back the koi fabric that you see in each of the blocks.  She gave a yard of fabric to each of 11 friends (keeping a yard for herself), we each made 12 blocks, and swapped.  My block is in the upper right corner.

The fan blocks in the center of the quilt were made using a piece of fabric that John picked up for me on his first trip to Thailand.  The colors were perfect to go with the koi.

So – when the quilt wins first place, who gets to keep the ribbon?John

who gets to keep the ribbon? Me, of course. Each one of us received identical sets of 12 blocks to set into a quilt. I'll be curious to see if there are any others entered into the show. The great thing about this being a group quilt is that it allowed me to enter a category I normally wouldn't qualify for. Makes it a whole lot easier to spread those quilts out and be eligible for more ribbons! 8:-)
